Swahili Ward Carnival Day
All these people were refugees from multiple African countries that moved to the United States for a better, safer life. They all belong to the same ward, Swahili-speaking, and some have witnessed terrible crimes against humans, if not had terrible things happen to them or people they knew. Coming from a terrible past, we wanted to give back and came together for a fun BBQ day out. Horse rides for kids, games, football (aka soccer), face painting and yummy foods & drinks. What impressed me most about this group os people, is their resilience, that even though they have had a tough life, they still smile and have fun.
